Why do we meet? But of course, to chase a multicolored 1.5 inch diameter ball through the woods and sometimes water hazards only to have it ricochet off a tree and nearly knock you down in the process of teeing off from a hole like number 15 tee at the Crown golf course, as an example.
Where do we meet, north to near Kewadin and Northport, east as far as Cadillac, south to Mesick, west as far as Thompsonville, and the TC area with the Crown being our home course. Every Monday that is not a holiday we meet starting in May 4 and play through October. Tee times in May, September, and October start at 10 am, while tee times for June and August is at 9:30am. There will be no golf in July. Click here for schedule.
Games we play are: closest to pin, longest drive, and sometimes we keep track of putts.
We also have a shotgun start when it is permitted and a kickoff lunch at Mulligan’s after we do a shotgun start to begin the season, weather permitting! We finish at the Crown doing the same with maybe a scramble thrown in too. Sometimes, with a holiday Monday, we will schedule an add-on game on the Thursday following the holiday.
We laugh, joke, ball chase, keep score as needed on some occasions, eat, and imbibe water, soda, beer, and flavored drinks of various colors. We are coed, we average 20 people per outing and car pool when out of town. Partners are determined through a card draw system that has implications of sometimes being rigged! No comment.
In summary, we socialize outdoors in nature and return to playing again because we just may have had a couple of good hits and or putts to keep the yearning interest alive for the game called GOLF.
