Please join us for a very exciting afternoon at Interlochen Center for the Performing Arts.
On Sunday, May 11 our friends at Interlochen will host the Newcomers Club for a matinee performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical Carousel. This musical performance will be preceded by a Newcomer exclusive ‘Inside Look’ at stage and costume design with the lead costume designer and assistant technical director as well as a scrumptious brunch reception with appetizers, select non-alcoholic beverages, beer and wine. By registering for this event, you are registering for all three parts of the event: the design presentation, the reception, AND the musical. The limit for this event (presentation, reception & musical performance) is 100, however due to Mother’s Day, members can bring a guest. The cost for the entire package is $10 per person!
Event Schedule:
11:30 a.m. Stage Design/Costume Design presentation at Corson Auditorium
12:30 p.m. Brunch reception at Mallory-Towsley Center for Arts Leadership (6-minute walk from Corson Auditorium)
2:00 p.m. Carousel at Corson Auditorium
We expect this to be a very popular event. If you must cancel, please do so by April 30 so members who are on the waitlist can be accommodated. There will be no refunds, but a cancellation prior to April 30 will add a credit to your Newcomer’s account.
Carousel is part of Interlochen's Signature Series. Here's a summary of the musical: Witness an enduring story of love, unfinished business, and redemption as director Bill Church and the Arts Academy Theatre Division stage Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein’s iconic 1945 musical, Carousel. In a coastal Maine community, carousel barker Billy Bigelow pursues an ill-fated romance with millworker Julie Jordan—costing both of them their jobs. Desperate to support his growing family, Billy makes a series of poor decisions that sparks life-altering consequences for the entire Bigelow family. Don’t miss a searing, critically acclaimed show featuring awe-inspiring dance sequences and beloved songs such as “If I Loved You” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Parking:
You’ll enter campus through the main gate, let the security team know why you’re here, and they’ll let you in. Park your car in Lots J-M, which is in front of the performance venue Corson Auditorium. By parking there, you’ll get premium parking for the performance, and by the time we are finished with our brunch and cocktail hour, those parking spots could be full already. Otherwise, you can park down in lots S, T, or U, which is directly outside our Cocktail Hour location, the Mallory-Towsley Center for Arts Leadership.
