About this event
We will meet at the Timbers Recreation Area Trailhead at 9:45a.m. The trailhead is located at 8195 Timbers Trail, Traverse City. A recreational passport is not necessary as it is a Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservatory.
Since many of you are new to the area, at 10:00, there will be a short presentation on hiking in the region. (A handout with additional hiking information will be provided). This will take roughly 15 or 20 minutes.
We will then hike approximately 2 miles of the trail. This should take about an hour. The trail is rated "Easy" (wide and fairly flat). It is mostly in the woods, but there are some open areas. Flip flops/sandals are a bad idea, but otherwise any kind of footwear is fine. Boots are not necessary. (You are in the woods, so prepare accordingly. ie hat, bug repellant, etc...)
When we have completed the hike, we will find a shady spot at the trailhead and have a picnic lunch. For the picnic tailgate lunch, bring your own lawn chairs or a blanket, something to drink, and your food to eat. There is a vault toilet at the trailhead, but no running water.
